'Sultan' ~ 'Sultan' is a clump-forming, cormous perennial with upright, lance-shaped, bronze-flushed, pleated, mid- to dark green leaves and, from midsummer into autumn, arching, branched, dark purple stems bearing racemes of funnel-shaped, downward-facing, red flowers with yellow and maroon basal rings.
Plant in moderately fertile, humus-rich soil in full sun or partial shade. Lift and divide congested clumps in spring. Mulch in cold areas to protect from frosts.
